For the second consecutive year, the More Birdies Less Plastic Initiative has demonstrated its value during the US Kids Venice Open 2024, further strengthening the collaboration between One Ocean Foundation and the world of golf. The initiative saw the participation of 370 young golfers from 39 countries, all committed to making a difference in ocean conservation.
More Birdies Less Plastic is an awareness project that combines sport and sustainability, turning successes on the golf course into a concrete commitment to protecting the seas. For every "birdie" scored by participants, One Ocean Foundation pledges to remove 1kg of plastic from coastal areas. This initiative is an example of how sport can significantly contribute to environmental protection.
Thanks to the over 1,400 birdies achieved during this year's tournament, One Ocean Foundation has committed to removing 1.4 tons of plastic from coastal areas in developing countries. This milestone highlights the importance of tangible actions in the fight against marine pollution and the crucial role that sport can play in this global mission.
The More Birdies Less Plastic Initiative will continue its journey in upcoming golf events, with the goal of collecting even more plastic and contributing to a more sustainable future for the planet's blue heart.
