One Ocean Foundation at “Algae Unveiled” for Milan Design Week
Art and Science united for the ocean

On the occasion of Fuorisalone 2025, One Ocean Foundation is taking part in the exhibition “Algae Unveiled” with a scientific contribution dedicated to the protection and restoration of Posidonia oceanica, a marine plant symbolic of the Mediterranean. The installation, hosted inside the Vetra Building in the new Vetra Design District (via Fernanda Wittgens 2, Milan), will be open to the public from April 9 to 13.

Opening hours:
April 9–11: 1:00 PM – 7:00 PM
April 12–13: 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Curated by The Baltic Vibe, the exhibition explores the potential of algae and aquatic plants as resources for a sustainable future, through the works of artists from Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia.

One Ocean Foundation has contributed an immersive video highlighting the ecological value of Posidonia oceanica—a key species for oxygenating the water, protecting coastlines, and absorbing CO₂ (up to 10 liters per day per square meter). These underwater meadows, true “blue forests,” generate more oxygen than a tropical forest: just one hectare of Posidonia produces as much as five hectares of the Amazon.

This collaboration aims to inspire a deeper reflection on the relationship between humans and nature, demonstrating how art and science can come together to promote sustainability and the protection of the ocean.
