In 2021, One Ocean Foundation formalized its collaboration relationship with the Italian Sailing Federation becoming the official "Sustainability Partner”. With the common aim of protecting the sea and spreading awareness through good practices, FIV and One Ocean Foundation collaborate to promote the principles of marine ecosystem protection.

Through the values of the Charta Smeralda and, more generally, awareness activities on issues related to the marine preservation, this collaboration allows the sharing of scientific content and knowledge through the support of the Foundation's team and its Scientific Committee.

We provided an educational “Sustainability kit” for FIV (Italian Sailing Federation) sailing schools, dedicated to kids. Among the materials provided, we created support materials for beach cleaning activities - an educational card on the most prevalent types of marine litter and a form to fill in during the activities to register the types and quantities of litter being picked up. The sustainability KIT was distributed to FIV sailing schools with more than 750 young sailors.

In 2024, thanks to the commitment of the Foundation, FIV and UVAI (Italian Offshore Sailing Union) joined the RECO project, recognizing the fundamental role of the Onboard Ecological Officer, which is a crew member responsible for overseeing and enforcing good practices for ocean protection.
