Dr. Ariza's predictions demonstrate a risk to deep-sea species that could impact migratory predators that depend on them for food, thus adversely affecting fisheries.

The researchers hope that by keeping global warming below 2°C, we could minimize the twilight zone organism decline to less than 10%.
