Once again this year, One Ocean Foundation’s commitment to youth education meets the school audience in Milan. On November 28, 2024, at Teatro Franco Parenti, the One Ocean Summit Young returns for its fourth edition, in collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo. This free event aims to inspire younger generations by emphasizing the ocean’s value as a resource for their future.
The 2024 edition features contributions from young talents, with a special focus on visual arts, such as film, and on scientific communication. Additionally, it will explore the emerging blue economy, showing how the ocean can become a source of innovation and sustainable growth. High school students, youth associations, and local institutions will embark on a journey of discovery around the ocean’s potential. Activities include educational and motivational talks, screenings of award-winning short films from the Pianeta Mare Film Festival in Naples, and a new edition of the One Ocean Challenge, which will be unveiled on the day of the event, allowing participants to become protagonists of change.
With over 1,200 young people involved in previous editions, the One Ocean Summit Young has proven to be a key event for fostering environmental awareness and professional growth within the framework of ecological transition. Indeed, the ocean can represent a source of innovation and sustainable development as well as an opportunity for empowerment for the most vulnerable communities.
The event, organized in collaboration with the City of Milan, will welcome Andrea Grieco, environmental advocate and science communicator; Carlotta Santolini, researcher and co-founder of BluEat; Valerio Ferrara, director and screenwriter; and Daniele Cassioli, Paralympic water-skiing champion. Giorgia Bollati, environmental journalist for Pianeta 2030 of Corriere della Sera, will moderate.
