One Ocean Summit Young

One Ocean Summit Young is an event designed for young people — a unique opportunity for learning, dialogue, and inspiration to reflect and act together on the future of the ocean.

Aligned with the values of One Ocean Foundation – knowledge, awareness, and impact – the event offers an engaging journey filled with ideas, experiences, and real opportunities.

Throughout the summit, participants had the chance to meet scientists, athletes, young entrepreneurs, artists, and activists, who shared their stories, visions, and expertise to inspire the next generation.

A journey of education, exchange, and action, where young people become active agents of change, exploring the challenges and potential of blue careers, and helping to build a more conscious and responsible relationship with the ocean.

The event is organised in collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo, under the patronage of the Municipality of Milan and with the support of the Prefecture and the Territorial School Office of Milan, which have backed the Foundation’s mission since the very beginning.

The climate is changing. The ocean tells the story. We have already heard a lot about climate change. That is exactly why it is worth pausing: not to add to the noise, but to understand what really lies behind the words. Climate is not just about “heat”: it is water, glaciers, coasts, biodiversity, health, food, the economy and the future. It is a change that involves interconnected systems (atmosphere, ocean, territories and society) and that directly affects the skills, jobs and opportunities of tomorrow’s world.

And to talk about climate, we have to talk about the ocean. It covers more than 70% of the planet and has absorbed over 90% of the excess heat in the climate system. It absorbs CO₂, helps regulate the climate and, as the planet warms, sees its habitats, biodiversity and productivity change. In 2025, around 90% of the ocean’s surface experienced at least one marine heatwave.

With its 7th edition, One Ocean Summit Young guides young people through a three-step journey:

• Understand: the science behind global warming.
• Connect: climate, ocean, territories and everyday life.
• Imagine: solutions, skills and opportunities for the future.

The goal is to help young people read the data, understand it and ask themselves what it means for their future: from awareness to possibility.
