Youth and the ocean: a journey of inspiration, knowledge, and opportunities to shape the blue careers of the future

One Ocean Summit Young

One Ocean Summit Young is an event designed for young people — a unique opportunity for learning, dialogue, and inspiration to reflect and act together on the future of the ocean.

Aligned with the values of One Ocean Foundation – knowledge, awareness, and impact – the event offers an engaging journey filled with ideas, experiences, and real opportunities.

Throughout the summit, participants had the chance to meet scientists, athletes, young entrepreneurs, artists, and activists, who shared their stories, visions, and expertise to inspire the next generation.

A journey of education, exchange, and action, where young people become active agents of change, exploring the challenges and potential of blue careers, and helping to build a more conscious and responsible relationship with the ocean.

19th of march 2026 - Teatro Apollo di Lecce

The One Ocean Foundation, with the participation of Intesa Sanpaolo and Allianz, organized the One Ocean Summit Young: a morning dedicated to high school students in the area.

The One Ocean Summit Young brought to Lecce a moment of exchange dedicated to younger generations, encouraging reflection on the role of the sea as an environmental, economic, and social resource. Hosted at the Teatro Apollo and addressed to local high school students, the event promoted dialogues between young people, scientists, entrepreneurs, and institutions on issues of sustainability and the opportunities connected to the Blue Economy.

The meeting opened with institutional greetings from representatives of local institutions, One Ocean Foundation, and the University of Salento, who highlighted the importance of education and training in addressing the environmental and industrial challenges of the coming years.

Throughout the morning, researchers, experts, and professionals shared experiences and perspectives on the future of the ocean economy—from climate change and the protection of Mediterranean biodiversity to new opportunities for innovation and sustainable entrepreneurship. Through scientific, entrepreneurial, and personal testimonies, the event invited young people to look at the sea not only as an ecosystem to be protected, but also as a space for growth, work, and responsibility for future generations.
