As scientific partners, we supported the Denmark SailGP Team presented by ROCKWOOL Group in the France SailGP event and conquered the Impact League! Our team member joined the Danish team in Saint Tropez and together set up activities to raise awareness on ocean issues and implementing sustainability guidelines.
During the event we hosted an ocean science workshop for the SailGP Inspire athletes, giving young sailors the opportunity to collect plankton samples and look at them under the microscope. On Sunday 11th we organized an ocean clean-up in the bay of Saint Tropez with Katja Salskov and Hans-Christian Rosendahl of the Denmark SailGP Team and Sam Newton from the Australian Team where they saw first hand the greatest issue that our oceans are facing: marine pollution.
One of the scientific projects we activated as Impact League partners of the Denmark SailGP Team is monitoring the plankton in the SailGP locations around the world and analyze them to create a global scale map of the health of these organisms. During the SailGP Saint Tropez we involved the danish athletes in plankton samplings and we focused on how much lies within just one drop of our ocean.
