One Ocean Foundation attends the Rolex Giraglia
The foundation contributes to the topic of sea protection in the 68th edition of the renowned regatta organized by Yacht Club Italiano.

This year the prestigious Rolex Giraglia, which started on June 16th from Sanremo, embraces One Ocean Foundation mission and promotes the project RECO, the Onboard Ecological Representative.

The initiative, conceived by Alberto Leghissa, Sistiana Sailing skipper and One Ocean Foundation Ambassador, promotes the creation of a new crew role, the RECO, to guarantee ecologically correct behaviours onboard and supervise the implementation of good practices by every member of the team following the decalogue, ten rules declining One Ocean Foundation’s ethical code to life onboard.Thanks to Yacht Club Italiano, promoter of the regatta, teams joining the Rolex Giraglia could endorse the project by specifying the name of their own Ecological Representative during the finalization of the enrolment phase.

Three Ambassadors participate to the regatta: Alberto Leghissa together with Mauro Pelaschier, who, in Genoa, will intervene in the talk “The Sea is life, good practices for a sustainable world” sharing the initiative and the importance of paying closer attention to sustainability and plastic pollution of the oceans. Finally, Furio Benussi who will welcome on the Maxi 100 Arca Srg young patients of Genoa’s paediatric hospital to make them live a special experience and show how important safeguarding the sea is.

During the award ceremony on Saturday, June 19, One Ocean Foundation will give an award to the first team classified in corrected time in both ORC and IRC categories which had endorsed the project RECO by establishing its own onboard Ecological Representative.
