The Barcolana, listed in the Guinness book of records as the world’s “Largest Sailing Race”, welcomed 2689 boats in 2018, and once again this year represents and unmissable opportunity to promote the values of the Charta Smeralda, One Ocean Foundation’s ethical code for all those who love and benefit from the sea.
Spectators and participants will be invited to sign the Charta Smeralda in two main areas:
- In the hospitality area of the Fast and Furio sailing team, led by our ambassador Furio Benussi, a Trieste-born sailor who has been racing in these waters since the age of 6;
- In the city’s main square, Piazza Unità d’Italia, within the large stand dedicated to #RespectTheOcean, together with Gruppo Hera, the leading promoter of environmental topics during the event.
On Saturday morning an activity to raise awareness is scheduled, aimed at the younger generation. In the Fast and Furio area our ambassador Mauro Pelaschier – who will be racing aboard Anywave, flying the OOF colours together with Fast and Furio – will meet with kids to discuss questions around sustainability.
