As 2024 draws to a close, One Ocean Foundation proudly reflects on a year of impactful initiatives, collaborative efforts, and meaningful progress in the protection of the ocean.
This year, the Foundation engaged over 10,240 people through its activities and events, fostering a deeper understanding of ocean sustainability and inspiring action at all levels. In total, it organized or participated in 117 initiatives worldwide, amplifying its mission to safeguard marine ecosystems and promote sustainable practices.
Scientific research remained a cornerstone of One Ocean Foundation’s efforts. Over 70 zooplankton and e-DNA samples were collected, contributing valuable insights into marine biodiversity and ecosystem resilience in the face of climate change. In the Mediterranean, the Foundation achieved the restoration of 200m² of Posidonia oceanica meadows within the Blue Forest project, highlighting the importance of blue natural capital through the protection of key ecosystems crucial for marine biodiversity and contrasting climate change.
The Foundation also advanced its focus on the Blue Economy, publishing 6 Industry Reviews and hosting the Blue Economy Summit 2024, where 36 international experts convened to share knowledge and explore innovative solutions for sustainable ocean-related practices.
These accomplishments reflect the dedication and commitment of One Ocean Foundation to its mission of creating a future where humanity and nature coexist in harmony. As the year ends, the Foundation looks ahead to 2025 with renewed energy and bold ambitions to continue making a difference for the Blue Planet.
