One Ocean Foundation is looking for passionate ocean defenders to join its team and support its mission to conserve and protect marine ecosystems. We have two open positions: one in digital&graphic communications and the other for marine biologists with a focus on science communication.
One Ocean Foundation is looking for a motivated candidate to support the communications team with digital and graphic projects. This role is a great opportunity for someone eager to gain hands-on experience in digital communication and design, contributing to One Ocean Foundation's mission of ocean conservation.
The intern will work closely with both internal teams and external partners (e.g., media agencies) and will be encouraged to contribute ideas and creative initiatives. Our ideal candidate is passionate about social media, visual storytelling, and creating engaging digital campaigns and presentations. This position reports directly to the Communication Manager.
JOB PURPOSE
The selected intern will assist the Communication Manager in enhancing One Ocean Foundation's online presence through social media, newsletters, and website management, as well as by producing graphic materials (presentations, brochures, flyers, etc.). This role requires creativity, attention to detail, and a strong interest in environmental and ocean sustainability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Graphic Design:
o Design graphic materials such as flyers, brochures, presentations, and other promotional resources using graphic design software.
o Ensure all visual content are consistent with One Ocean Foundation's branding style and values.
o Adapt designs to various formats, optimized for mobile and web.
o Organize and manage digital graphic files, maintaining version control and project documentation.
Digital Communication Support:
o Assist with website management to ensure it is regularly updated with news and activities.
o Monitor digital platforms and support community engagement online.
o Create and publish content for social media channels and newsletters.
Content Support
o Assist in copywriting for digital content, including social media posts and newsletters.
o Collaborate with the team to develop new, engaging content that promotes the Foundation’s mission and initiatives.
REQUIREMENTS
• Degree in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field.
• Proficiency in graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite – Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign – and PowerPoint) and the ability to create clear, impactful visual content.
• Familiarity with social media platforms and digital content management.
• Good writing skills in English and Italian, with attention to detail and creativity.
• Interest in environmental issues, with a focus on ocean-related topics.
• Self-motivation, a collaborative attitude, and the ability to work effectively in a team.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Duration: 6 months, with potential for renewal.

• Provide support to the One Ocean Foundation team at headquarters.
• Assist in field sampling activities, including the collection of environmental data.
• Develop and create educational materials for the general public and the organization’s partners.
• Collaborate in the preparation of presentations and reports for events, workshops, and conferences.
• Contribute to managing outreach, education, and training activities on marine biodiversity and environmental sustainability, including citizen science initiatives.
REQUIREMENTS
• Master’s degree in Marine Biology, Marine Sciences, or related disciplines.
• Experience in science communication, preferably in the environmental or marine field.
• Basic scientific skills to support sampling and monitoring activities.
• Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and engagingly, with strong writing and storytelling skills.
• Proficiency in Italian and English.
• Passion for protecting marine ecosystems and sensitivity to environmental conservation issues.
• Availability for fieldwork trips, including extended periods with breaks in between.
