We are pleased to welcome Luca Da Prato, champion of the Italian Paralympic Swimming Federation competing for Gorizia Nuoto, as the new Ambassador of One Ocean Foundation.
An athlete of great determination and a symbol of resilience, Luca Da Prato has a deeply inspiring story: born in Medea (Gorizia) and forced to use a wheelchair following a serious car accident in 2023, he transformed rehabilitation into an extraordinary competitive career, emerging as a leading figure in Italian and international para swimming.
In recent years, Da Prato has achieved outstanding results. He is World Champion in the 100m backstroke at the World Para Swimming Championships in Lima, setting multiple Italian national records across several disciplines. He is also Italian Champion and a multiple medalist at the major national paralympic championships.
In January, he carried the Paralympic torch for the Milano–Cortina 2026 Paralympic Games, embodying the values of inclusion, commitment, and determination.
Luca’s appointment as Ambassador marks a significant connection between the world of sport and marine conservation: his story of rebirth and passion for water perfectly reflects the mission of One Ocean Foundation, which promotes a sustainable and responsible relationship with the marine environment through educational activities, public awareness initiatives, and concrete projects.
As an Ambassador, Luca will bring his unique voice to amplify messages of respect for the ocean, social inclusion, and personal resilience. His experience will help inspire young people and communities to adopt more sustainable behaviors toward the oceans, while strengthening environmental awareness campaigns and projects through his visibility and positive message.
