Environmental sustainability at the heart of the Open Day held by the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Team at their Molo Ichnusa base in Cagliari.

On Saturday 7 December the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team opened the doors of their base at Molo Ichnusa in Cagliari, Sardinia for the first time ever.

The event was a resounding success in terms of participation with more than 800 people registering to attend via an online form, in just over 4 hours. During the Open Day, participants were able to visit the Cagliari base and get to know the team members involved in the design, build and assembly of the new AC75 Luna Rossa, as well as putting their own skills as trimmers, grinders, riggers and helmsmen to the test.

Throughout the day there were numerous encounters with the protagonists of this challenge: from the designers to sailors of the calibre of Spithill, Vascotto and Sibello and the youngest team members.

Participants were also introduced to the daily actions the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team adopt in terms of environmental sustainability. With the help of informative videos, the team highlighted the principles of the Charta Smeralda: an innovative code of ethics that is accessible to everyone on the website www.1ocean.org. Like Max Sirena, Skipper and Team Director of Team Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli and a One Ocean Foundation Ambassador, everyone can sign the charter and commit to respecting a shared code of conduct for the protection of the seas.
