Blue Economy Summit

The Blue Economy Summit conceived and promoted by One Ocean Foundation, brings together internationally renowned leaders from business, finance, academia, society, and government to discuss the urgent need to mobilize greater financial resources for the protection and restoration of Blue Natural Capital. Each year, the event engages hundreds of participants, including students and researchers, and addresses key topics such as biodiversity loss, technological innovation to tackle ocean-related challenges, and emerging opportunities in the Blue Economy.

On the morning of May 21, 2026, the Blue Economy Summit was hosted in the Allianz Tower in Milan, bringing together global leaders and providing an opportunity for institutions, businesses and academia to discuss the oceanʼs status and the urgent need to accelerate a regenerative Blue Economy.

The Blue Economy Summit gave a stage to exploring not only the urgent need to protect our ocean ecosystems and blue natural capital, but also the critical role of finance in enabling the transition to a sustainable Blue Economy. The speakers, coming from diverse backgrounds, shared their experiences and perspectives on integrating sustainability into business strategies, recognizing the responsibility, and opportunities, companies have in driving positive change. Academic experts supported the dialogue with research-based insights and offered the base for understanding the complex interconnections between economic activities and ocean health.

The message became clear: Safeguarding natural resources is no longer only an environmental imperative, but a key factor in ensuring long-term resilience and competitiveness.
