2021 was the first year and first edition of the One Ocean Foundation Young Summit, here's how it went…
The first One Ocean Summit YOUNG took place at the Strehler Theater in Milan, where schools in the city and province were invited to participate in a morning completely dedicated to the ocean and young people. Speakers on this day dedicated to young people were scientists, researchers and water sports athletes of the caliber of Mauro Pelaschier, Furio Benussi, Max Sirena, Roberto d’Amico and Chiara Obino, who explained to the children how their passion for sea has become a profession. The panel of experts met with the young students in the room and online, in a debate on the life of those who work for the sea, and the future of the new blue professions. During the first YOUNG One Ocean Summit in Milan, the One Ocean Young Challenge was also inaugurated.
The One Ocean Young Challenge was open to all students of classes III, IV and V High School and is divided into 2 categories: Sea and Art and Sea and Words. Participation is open to individual candidates, but also to groups of up to 6 students. Thanks to the support of Canva, children will be able to present and tell their works graphically with an innovative digital storytelling tool. For each category, our jury of expert scientists, artists and journalists had chosen a winning work. The categories are as follows:
